Department
Service
As part of a major state research university, a key component of the mission of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is to provide service to the State of New Jersey and to the Nation. This is accomplished through our undergraduate and graduate programs, faculty and student research, service on boards and commissions, collaboration and consulting with academic and industrial partners, and through sponsorship of workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Career Paths
Many CCB graduates remain in New Jersey, contributing to education at all levels and to technological development in the chemical, pharmaceutical, advanced materials, and related industries. Others attend professional schools such as medicine, law, and business.
- Employment in local industries helps to improve the economy and the quality of life through new products and pharmaceuticals.
- Employment in educational institutions helps to train the next generation of science leaders.
Collaborations
Multidisciplinary collaborations are required to solve an increasing number of today's complex problems. Within Rutgers, CCB faculty members collaborate with many individual departments (Biomedical Engineering; Ceramic & Materials Engineering; Chemical & Biochemical Engineering; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Pharmaceutics; and Physics & Astronomy) and affiliated Centers and Institutes.
