Edison desk   On July 24, 2024, the Research & Development Council of New Jersey announced 14 patents, developed by 66 inventors, and five individual award winners, who will be recognized at the 45th annual Edison Patent Award Ceremony and Reception on November 21, 2024, at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ.

For over four decades, the R&D Council has celebrated the remarkable research efforts across New Jersey and honoured exceptional inventors at this prestigious annual event named after inventor Thomas Alva Edison.

The winners were chosen by a panel of R&D Council researchers who assessed the patents based on the significance of the problem, socio-economic value, novelty, and commercial impact. Each winning patent must have had a part of its technical or scientific work completed in New Jersey.

The 45th annual Edison Patent Awards Ceremony and Reception will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ. Each award recipient will be honoured with the premiere of a special tribute film during the event.

"The Edison Patent Award is very special to me personally, insofar as Edison’s legacy of innovation has been an aspirational goal of mine for many years and is what brought me to Rutgers in 2009. Edison, the inventor, symbolizes the passion and dedication needed to translate fundamental knowledge into practical solutions. His inventions transformed our lives, worldwide. Edison’s zeal and dedication are shared by the cofounders of RenewCO2, Anders Laursen and Karin Calvinho. Planet Earth urgently needs our help today. This is the mission of RenewCO2."

Distinguished Professor G. Charles Dismukes
